National Garden

National Garden is also known as Royal Garden which is about 15.5 hectares big located in center of Athens, Greece. The garden has many things representing ancient time including tambourines, mosaics, and many other structures. The garden was designed by German agronomist Frederick Schmidt under Queen Amalia permission in 1838. The garden was competed in1840 and was open to public with over 500 species of plans and different types of animals. Animals in the garden include peacock, ducks, and turtles.

Tourists and visitors of the garden find National Garden or Royal Garden of Athens as a paradise on earth. You can just walk around the garden for hours wandering through shaded pathways, flowers, trees, ducks and their ponds, and many remains of ancient Athens all over garden. The garden is famous for its ducks and many people visit it to get some peace from the city crowd and relax themselves.

The Royal Garden was once used to be closed with gates around it and was only open for King and their family. After it opened to public it remained very crowded few months to admire the beauty of the garden. A stroll in the garden and sitting on a bench feeding the ducks is considered really peaceful and relaxing for the citizen of Athens. There is also an uncontrollable population of water turtles which are very adorable to watch to. The water turtles are in their pond doing their own little slow movements and hiding under the shells is very admirable itself.

Many people enjoy their afternoon lunch or evening snack at a small café nearby the national garden on Irodo Atikou Street called O Kyppos. While adults enjoy their meal the young ones are playing in playground of the garden where there are few swings and slides. Overall, the National Garden of Athens is one place stop where you can find duck pond, a small zoo, a Botanical Museum, a small cafe, and a Children's Library and playground.
