Syntagma Square means in Constitution Square in English which is located in Athens, Greece. The area includes grand buildings, banks, office, top hotels, and Greek Parliament building located there. Few years before the square was in a very bad condition but today it has been renovated and has the numerous top cafes, restaurants, fast food outlets, airline offices, and much more.
There are few things that every tourists checks out at this square; Hellenic Parliament Building, Hotel Grand Bretagne, National Historical Museum, and Numismatic Museum. Hellenic Parliament was earlier known as Royal palace that is guarded by soldiers every day. The soldiers wear this maroon color outfit with furry hats and special shows that makes the tap sounds. They are asked to stand still without blinking and every so often they do a march or dance to take a break from standing still. Tourists enjoy taking pictures with the soldiers because regardless of all the naughty things you do the soldiers will not blink or move even a pulse. Early morning, late evening, and on Sunday there is changing of the guards march where you actually see how interestingly they march around by kicking a step backwards and marching. The hotel Grand Bretagne is a famous place to stay at, have a coffee, or relax in the lobby because it has been build there ever since 1862. National Historical Museum is a museum that occupies a large collection of historic document, furniture, and equipments from revolution. Numismatic Museum is an example of Athens ancient time buildings which was beautifully made by Ernst Ziller. The museum has over thousands of collection of ancient coins, Greek, Roman, Byzanitine, and Medieval figures.
In the square you can find shops to purchase electronic items, books, and music. MacDonald is the famous outlet of this area not because it is famous outlet but it also has a Greek touch to its atmosphere. To chill during timings, many people stop by Pure Bliss café which is decorated in a traditional English tea room style. Many tourists often visit Syntagma Square to shop, eat, and look around the small hub which stores history from very old times. The place is always crowded where you can find people just sitting on the floor chilling or enjoying throughout the day.
